Beloved St. Louis circus to broadcast a virtual show in June and return to the Big Top in 2021
Circus Flora today announced the postponement of its 34th season, due to the myriad health and safety concerns caused by the global pandemic. “The Trial of the Century,” which had been scheduled to run June 4 through June 28 in Grand Center, will instead take place in June 2021.
“There is nothing we look forward to more than gathering again beneath the Big Top when we are all safe and well,” said Karen Shoulders, Managing Director of Circus Flora. “But this is the decision that had to be made – based on science, data, and what we’ve learned from other nations – to keep our audiences, performers, vendors, staff, and volunteers healthy during these unpredictable days.”
For many St. Louisans, summer just isn’t the same without Circus Flora, and our global family of performers has you covered! At 7 p.m. on June 4, fans can head to www.circusflora.org for a Virtual Circus full of amazing acts, special guest stars, and more.
Additionally, Circus Flora is delighted to partner with Tiny Little Monster in the #HereForGoodSTL campaign. Supporting Circus Flora is as easy as buying a stylish, super-soft T – just visit the Tiny Little Monster shop, select the Circus Flora shirt, and $10 of each purchase goes directly to our nonprofit circus.
“Circus Flora has brought joy, delight, and laughter to St. Louis audiences for more than three decades, but for now our entire company is doing our part to stay safe, stay home, and stop the spread of COVID-19,” said Jack Marsh, Circus Flora’s Artistic Director. “We are heartened by the thought of seeing everyone again in 2021, when we’ll create that magical world under the Big Top and our artists will remind us of humans’ ability to achieve superhuman feats.”
As is true of many performing arts companies, Circus Flora will feel the harsh impact of the coronavirus pandemic, and we humbly ask for St. Louisans’ continued support in this uncertain time. Ticket holders should keep their tickets until new dates are announced, and more information will be available once new dates are secured. If you are so inclined to make a further donation, that can be done simply and securely at www.circusflora.org/donate.
Keep an eye on our website and social media for more information about the Virtual Circus, plus fun guest posts from our cast and crew. We’ll see you in 2021 – and we’ll see you virtually on June 4!
