Happy 2019! New Year, New Show!
We have such gratitude for all that we’ve accomplished together in the past year. We’re pleased to share a few highlights with you.
Exploring the Future of Circus at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival
I recently had the pleasure of attending the Edinburgh Fringe Festival: my first time at the world's largest arts festival.
Magic in the Making: The Circus Flora Process
Each year, our show spends one month under the Big Top – but it takes more than a year to prepare. Every season brings new opportunities, new challenges, and new memories. The Case of the Missing Bellhop sprang to life during a time of great change for Circus Flora, with our new permanent home and our earlier season. It’s my pleasure to share with our friends and fans this behind-the-scenes glimpse into our process.
Run Off & Join the Circus (As a Volunteer!)
I didn’t expect was the sheer joy I would have volunteering – and the start of a tradition that continues to this day. We all look forward to seeing our “Circus Friends” every year. The yearly Volunteer Dinner feels like a family reunion. I have made many wonderful friends among the other volunteers who are now a part of my everyday life.
Coming Soon: Trained Pigs, Death-Defying Stunts, and a Mystery of International Proportions
We’ve got some incredible circus acts lined up: Roxane Gilliand on the Swinging Trapeze (without a net!), Yoyo the clown, The Flying Wallendas on the high-wire, The Alanian Riders who will perform acrobatics on, off, and under galloping horses, trained pigs, The St. Louis Arches, and trampoline acrobatics.
Share the Magic. Share the Joy. Share the Circus.
The magic of circus should be accessible to ALL! In that spirit of inclusiveness, we created the “Share the Circus” ticket donation program.
Hospital Clowning?! What’s That?
“Hospital clowning?! What’s that?” . . . is often the first response when I tell people about my job. So, let me tell you a little bit about our “Clowns on Call” program and our work with our primary partner, SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.
2017 Artistic Director Message
There's a lot more change happening at Circus Flora: a new site for our Big Top, new office space, and some very exciting new productions on the horizon. Though this is keeping us all very busy, it can also be important to step back once in a while and keep a perspective on why we are doing what we are doing.
Message from the Executive Director
Greetings and welcome to our new Circus Flora website. We hope you like what you see here and will visit often to learn about what’s going on with St. Louis’ own world-renowned Circus Flora!
